How perhaps all of this was a punishment of sorts, like a castigation for their prosperity. Or perhaps just an act of immeasurable evil? Undeserved or mayhap a fitting response to something, anything, someone, or they, could have done? Nevertheless, all of it had become but a severe punishment to any clinging to life. A sentence to be carried out in their streets and homes, and shortly after within their very hearts.

Naturally... inevitably... not many were able to bear such a burden and overtime their numbers started to shrink. People began to ‘disappear ’ as the adults would say, trying to cover it up as best they could. But all the young ones knew better......
