it was a friday morning in spanish class. i wasn’t sure why she was there, she spoke the language fluently. maybe it was for an easy a. or maybe she just liked the class. either way, i was sitting behind her watching her dark brown curls sway ever so slightly as she laughed at something her friend said. the bell rang and everyone took their seats. she pulled out her notebook, then turned to me and asked if i had a pencil. except all i could notice was her beautiful brown eyes. she repeated her question. i apologized. i must have stared at her for so long. i reached into my bag and handed her a pencil. that was the first day i spoke to her.
