前著名小提琴手坂田裕二，因女友由香因病逝世而陷入絕望，再也無法拉奏樂器。三年後，他在公園遇見一棵自女友過世後便不再開花的櫻花樹，深信是女友的靈魂在等待他，於是每天在樹下全心演奏。最終，他用盡生命不吃不喝地拉琴一週，力竭死於樹下。盛夏時分，這棵樹竟奇蹟般盛開，眾人稱之為「奇蹟之櫻」，而深知內情的老者則明白，這是女孩聽見思念後的回應，並將其命名為「遲櫻」。
