After the incident with the umbrella...

Nothing really changed.

At least...

That was what I kept telling myself.

Korn was still the same.

Quiet.

Polite.

Kind.

But somehow...

I had started noticing the little things about him.

I noticed how he always greeted his teachers with a respectful bow.

I noticed how he stayed behind after class to help clean the classroom.

I noticed how he shared his lunch whenever one of his classmates forgot theirs.

He wasn't kind only to me.

He was kind to everyone.

Maybe...

That was who Korn really was.

One afternoon, I went to the junior building to return his notebook.

Before I reached his classroom, I heard laughter inside.

I stopped at the door.

Korn was sitting with his friends.

He was smiling.

Not the polite smile he always showed me.

A real smile.

He looked...

Happy.

One of his friends nudged him.

"Korn, you're smiling a lot today."

"Did something good happen?"

Korn laughed.

"Maybe."

"Tell us."

"It's a secret."

The whole group started teasing him.

I smiled to myself.

It was nice seeing him like that.

"P'Phawin?"

Korn noticed me standing at the door.

His friends immediately turned to look.

"Oh..."

"So that's P'Phawin."

One of them whispered loudly enough for everyone to hear,

"The senior you always talk about?"

Korn's face turned red.

"Stop talking."

The boys laughed.

I walked over and handed him his notebook.

"You forgot this."

"Thanks."

I smiled.

"I'll see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow, P'Phawin."

As I walked away...

I could still hear his friends teasing him.

I couldn't make out every word.

But I heard one sentence clearly.

"You like him, don't you?"

The laughter that followed echoed down the corridor.

I paused for just a second.

Then continued walking.

For some reason...

My heart beat a little faster.

Not because of what they said.

But because...
