Long ago, the world was very ordinary, just farmers tilling soil, fishermen patiently waiting for a catch, children playing with sticks when all of a sudden, dark clouds appeared and the world was in complete darkness, crops slowly decayed, animals dying one by one from starvation. All hope was lost for the ancient ones, but during one night, they saw hundreds of thousands of shooting stars from the sky, trails of silver, blue and yellow were like glowing rain of salvation. After the trails faded and the dark clouds disappeared, the ancient ones saw a new orb in the sky that is now known as the moon. Everyone at that time came to the conclusion that the heavens had bestowed upon them angels of salvation.
"-and when the shooting stars fell, their trails didn’t just fade. They stayed. In people’s eyes.” Anas tapped below his own. “Silver. Blue. Yellow. The first three,”
“I know the first three colours. You don't have to tell me,” Karasu said.
“Then you know the Cruels came through the gates exactly like—” But Nex wasn’t looking at Anas anymore because of how annoying Anas was.
"This story always fascinated me when I was a kid. I still don't understand why you aren't interested in our abilities, Karasu and Nex!" Anas shouted with his blue eyes glowing with a bit of frustration.
"Anas, we talked about this," Karasu said with his red eyes slightly glowing.
"This story has been said thousands of times already, I already knew everything that you just said," Nex finished Karasu's sentence, almost like he is ready to fight Anas.
"Come on, don't you think it's weird why the angels showed up to help us?" Anas asked.
"They probably did that because they saw how terrible the ancient ones' lives were," Karasu responded with Nex nodding along.
"I know you're an aristocrat and the story is what they always say, but are you really that interested in it?" Nex genuinely wondered. While they were having a chat about the story, the bell of the awakeners school rang. This school is the Celestial Star Academy— one of the top ten academies for awakeners in the world and there is no tuition fee because it's a prestigious school and its main goal is to nurture strong awakeners to boost the school's ranking. Nex and Karasu are two of the strongest students in the entire academy even though they are only in their second year of being there. Both placed top ten in the whole academy and they are catching up to their seniors. The classes are boring to them and practice is basically unnecessary for them. However, Anas was different from the two, he was only a little above average and his skills pale in comparison to the two boys, but he is definitely the smartest one out of the three.
"Alright class, today we will be learning about...." the teacher spoke, though only Anas was actually paying attention in class while the other two didn't really care and just stared outside.
Hours later, the bell rang. It was lunch recess. The three of them share a meal with one another, the peaceful scenery of the beautiful cherry blossom trees. Everyone was having fun at the academy, until...
