Naomi
Thinking about reading minds now, are we?
Aw, Isaac.
I almost pity how clever you seem to believe you are.
It’s not the first time I’ve come across people like you thanks to my blessing and a curse known as telepathy. Meeting at Chloe’s wedding wasn’t a coincidence. Usually I hear a lot of people think but oh boy, you truly took the cake.
You were just… so… loud. I was getting exhausted listening to you go on and on about how I’m so quirky and pretty and how I like to drink my drinks or eat my food or the way I do my hair or accessorize.
For a quiet guy like you, you sure have a lot going on in that head of yours.
One glance, a smile and a wave is all it took to fuel your obsession that had been going on for months.
Every word that formed in your head about me, I became aware of it. Because even with a crowd, you were the only guy who could not stop planning his next move to get my attention which in your words “wouldn’t make it obvious that I’m the main object of your desires.”
But you failed, because you are so painfully obvious. It makes me laugh rather than nervous.
You say you’re the one who played along, you’re so wrong it baffles me.
I wanted to see how far you’ll go so I pivoted. I let you play out your delusions and that’s the only reason I’m here on this date.
You seem so clueless because I’ve let you believe you know everything about me.
That photo in Milan which I took of the blueberry cheesecake that you probably spent hours analyzing? I didn’t even order it.
Going to fancy restaurants by myself? Nah, I prefer take out while chilling at home watching a show.
See I would’ve applauded you for your keen observation skills if only they were accurate. Social media can be deceiving and it’s not a representation of reality. Shouldn’t that be the first rule you’re supposed to know while stalking somebody? But since I have an advantage of knowing how your mind works in a literal sense so an A for effort, I guess?
You’re a Jack of all trades and a master to none.
“-actually, you know what? I’ll order a tiramisu, thank you so much.” I tell the waiter and hand the menu back. A muscle twitches in your jaw.
“Change of heart, last minute?” Isaac asks with a smile plastered on his face in an attempt to hide his disappointment.
“Mhm. You could say that. Thought it’d be fun to try something I haven’t before.” I respond while resting my back on the cushy chair to enjoy the view from the window. He drinks a sip of water to compose himself and begins his routine of thoughts yet once again.
“Do you only prefer cheesecakes from specific places? I was so sure you’d go for it. Maybe tiramisu is what you’re in the mood for right now. You sure have a sweet tooth Naomi. It’s adorable”
Holy shit. You really obsess over every tiny thing. And yet not a single expression displays on your face in regards to how you feel.
Wouldn’t it be so terrifying if I had no idea how your brain functions and how different it is from the way you present yourself on the outside.
Or maybe not. Because I’m no different, all your thoughts are exposed in front of me and you don’t know in the slightest. Seems like we’re both good at putting on an act.
“Are you planning to steal mine?” I ask Isaac when I catch him staring at my watch.
His hazel eyes widen as if he’s a deer caught in the headlights. He blinks and quickly answers, “I’m sorry, steal what exactly?”
“My dessert. You didn’t place your order.”
He chuckles halfheartedly. “Not a big fan of sweets unfortunately.”
“Or that’s just an excuse to have mercy on your wallet.”
His gaze lingers for a moment before he mechanically scratches his head. “I hope it didn’t come across that way.”
“Did she figure out I’m going broke after this date? Shit.”
I can’t help but giggle.
Your thoughts amuse me, Isaac. You should think about stepping up your game.
After all, you are on a date with a girl who can read you like an open book.13Please respect copyright.PENANAi0M5FCwvla
