“Was I really that unhappy with you?”

“And you did nothing?”

His jaw tightened.

“I thought… providing everything was enough.”

She laughed bitterly.

“So you gave me a house… money… comfort…”

She stepped closer.

“But not yourself.”

That hit directly.

Arjun looked affected.

“I didn’t realize…” he said quietly.

“Of course you didn’t,” she replied. “You never looked.”

Those words stayed with him long after she walked away.

From outside the house.

A man stood in the shadows, speaking on the phone.

A smirk appeared on his face.

“This makes things easier.”

He looked toward the mansion.
