The Twin Who Lived - The Serpent’s Hidden Heart

Late evening had settled over Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The Slytherin common room glowed softly beneath the Black Lake. Green-tinted light filtered through the tall windows as shadows of passing fish rippled along the stone walls.

Most of the first-years had already gone to bed.

But Mira Silverthorne had not.

She sat at a small table surrounded by parchment, runic diagrams, and enchanted tools from her small workshop kit. A faint hum of magic surrounded the space as she quietly experimented with a charm meant to stabilize floating objects.

Across the room, Draco Malfoy lounged in an armchair reading a wizarding politics book far above his usual first-year curriculum.

On the table beside Mira’s satchel, Pip the Niffler shuffled around curiously.

When he pulled his paws out again—

They stepped into the circular office.

Nearby stood Severus Snape, along with Minerva McGonagall, Filius Flitwick, and Pomona Sprout.

Dumbledore smiled warmly, “You mentioned an unusual discovery.”

Mira stepped forward and gently placed the diary on the desk.

The room grew very quiet.

Snape leaned closer. His dark eyes narrowed, “…where did you find this?”

“In the Slytherin common room,” Mira replied, “Pip discovered a hidden compartment.”

Snape examined the cover.

His expression changed.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

“…this,” he murmured, “…is no ordinary journal.”

Flitwick adjusted his spectacles excitedly, “Oh my.”

McGonagall looked stunned.

Dumbledore rested a hand on the diary, “Yes,” he said softly, “I believe we may be looking at something extraordinary.”

He opened the first page.

The elegant handwriting confirmed it.

The room fell silent.

Because the diary belonged to one of the four founders of Hogwarts.
