Our little creature landed quieter than the feathers that fell around her. Every step calculated to leave no openings for attack. Faster than humans ran but slower than the usual beast it kept the steady pace till it reached the runnel. The runnel’s water could never be trusted. It seemed clear now but even the small fish would kill if it thought the creature was small enough. Our little creature vanished and in its place was a woman. She choked on the flavor like salted iron. The water looked blue but in truth it carried the blood of a recent battle. To get fresh water she’d need to get to the cave entrance where the runnel began. She desperately wanted to shift to her other form for quick travel but she had little energy left so she went as a human. Now she had to be swifter and hidden. In her other form she would use worn paths but in human form she had to make her own and avoid everything. The one thing that could unite all beast endemic or not was a human. The one law unbeknownst to humans was humans must die if they entered the valley.
I suppose as your storyteller I should explain the valley. It was created for humans with good hearts by the god of creatures, but humans being humans they ruined it. As a punishment the god turned all the humans into creatures that matched their souls. To keep order he sent six endemics, creatures native to one land. Each were dragons with spirits of other creatures . Fox, bear, jaguar, shark, wasp, and the most destructive human.
