Rain again.

Not the heavy kind. Just the soft drizzle that made everything feel a little quieter than usual. The kind of rain that didn’t bother rushing, that soaked into your sleeves and whispered against your skin instead of screaming.

Ric stood at the edge of the courtyard, backpack slung over one shoulder, umbrella hanging from his wrist. The building across the garden path was half-blurred by the mist. Beneath the stone overhang, Ren stood with his hands in his pockets, staring at the falling water like it had personally betrayed him.

He wasn’t moving.

He didn’t have an umbrella.

And he looked like he’d rather drown than ask someone for one.

Ric smiled softly.

“Wanna share?”

His voice was calm. Casual. As if they’d done this a hundred times.

Ren turned, startled — headphones still around his neck, the faint hum of a piano song still lingering. He opened his mouth, then closed it. Like the words were there, but caught on a feeling.

“I didn’t think it’d rain again,” Ren murmured.

Ric shrugged. “It always rains when you show up.”

Ren blinked.

Ric didn’t wait for a reaction. He just smiled, walked off, and left Ren wondering why his heartbeat was louder than the storm.
