You smelled like coffee and unfinished dreams.

Talked like someone who had read too many love stories

And never believed they’d live one.

Stupid Stars

We laughed about the weather.

Talked about how music is the only honest thing left in the world.

You said your favourite songs were sad ones.

I should’ve taken that as the warning.

The night, sky blinked twice.

I thought maybe

The stars were trying to tell me something.

Maybe they knew-

You’d become

The storm I’d write poems about.

Like it was sacred act.

And somehow,

That’s how it all started.

Who felt like home.
