An entomology conference this November, a season away from the present
Professionals and students of all stripes will congregate, social creatures we are,
and me, not yet anything, a job entirely unrelated to the many of theirs.
My wish? That I meet more folks who won't care about the letters my degree has, B. A. instead of B. Sc.
That maybe some of them have opportunities, are looking for interested eager idiots to live on a campus
and conduct research where one may not need to drive to do useful work studying these small beings.
After all, they fly on their own, and my wish is maybe to fly alongside the tiny gall wasps
or aggregating aphids and their ant supervisors, deciphering which chemicals of the plants draw in our pests
Versus which repel. My wish is that I do not repel but attract people who might need someone inexperienced yet eager
Willing to work, willing to learn, open to a new adventure, which this conference will ideally be the call to, in the storyline of my life.
