Third Person POV
The cold morning air bit Emilia as she woke up to the familiar rhythm of the London Streets. It was Monday, like any other day, yet something about today felt different. Her Mother, a quiet, gentle woman who worked long hours to make ends meet, had been unusually cheerful when she had woken up.
Emilia's POV
"Honey! Get ready and come down. Breakfast is ready. You're going to be late!!" my mother yelled from the kitchen.
It's Monday, just great. Note the sarcasm. I dragged myself out of bed, exhausted from the usual grind of school and life under the watchful eye of my evil stepfather
My stepfather, Marco, had always been a looming presence at home. He was cold and distant, often in a foul mood when my mother was not around.
I had a bad feeling about today. There was strange heaviness in the air, an unsettling weight i couldn't place
I scurried down the stairs and was immediately pulled into a bear hug by my mum.
"Morning mom. Please let me go. Are you trying to kill me?" I breathed out as her arms were still wrapped lightly around my badly bruised ribs.
"Sorry dear. Come eat quickly or you'll be late" she said
"Mum, I'll get something to eat at school. Besides, if I eat, I'll be late" I tried to explain to her. She reacted to my explanation with a disapproving look
"No, eat something before you go" she insisted.
"Mum, you worry too much. I'll be fine" i assured her
"You don't value me. You don't listen to me, you don't care. When i die, i wonder who will get you to eat" she said with a pout.
"Don't say that there is nothing to worry about. Here... I'll eat an apple on the way, hmm?" I said grabbing an apple and taking a bite. I don't like it when she talks about death, especially her own. She is my only support, and I don't have it in me to lose her.
"Fine go. Be careful" she said in defeat
