其實在古代，人們看到美人魚時，可能只是看到海上漂浮的屍體，

也許是某個外出工作的漁夫，發現妻子外遇把妻子殺害，棄置在茫茫大海，屍體隨浪擱淺在礁石上。

一條鯊魚跳出海面，咬住了一個人的下半身，將其拖入海中。當人們遠眺時，依稀可見一個人類的上半身和一條魚尾，猶如傳說中的美人魚。

然而，鯊魚吃剩的殘骸漂再浮在海面上。成為了美人魚會吃人的傳說的起源之一。

漁夫在酒館細說著故事，

我與伴侶出海，我​​​​​​​獨自出海，
